Animal Reiki promotes harmony in your relationship with your animal and in your animal’s relationships with other animals. It helps reduce feelings of worry and fear and helps your animal remain balanced during stressful events and times of transition.
Animal Reiki supports animals in many situations, such as:
- After adoption into a new home
- When moving homes
- Introduction of a new family member, human or animal
- In preparation for and during shows and sporting events
- During end-of-life care
- After the loss of a companion, human or animal
- During illness and injury
- Recovery from injury, surgery, or other procedure
- For separation anxiety
- When introduced to new animals and relationships at day-care
Animal Reiki is for dogs, cats, horses, parakeets, guinea pigs, chickens, goats, fish, snakes, cows, and any animal in between!
"Kaia’s been through a lot with her health since I adopted her but she’s physically healthy now and I want to keep her that way. I also want her to be happy. She’s a rescue dog so she can get nervous and anxious and wound up tight. During each session, I could tell she was really relaxed and open to the Reiki. She put her paw on my arm while she lay next to me, so she definitely felt very comfortable.
Kaia has a nervous licking habit. If she feels anxious, she will find things to lick. After the first session, I noticed that she wasn’t licking things as much as she normally does (something I wasn’t expecting)! She’s also been a lot calmer since the sessions and I can just tell that she’s more comfortable with things.
I’m very happy that she responded well to Reiki. I didn’t know what to expect but I’m glad I did it because Kaia is noticeably less anxious and not as wound tight as she was before she had her Reiki sessions. I think it’s a great way to support your animal’s health and well-being!” — Tessa M., Raleigh, NC
What’s Animal Reiki?
Reiki can be translated as “spiritually guided life force.” Life force is energy that flows through every living thing. When their life force is out of balance, animals can feel stressed and get sick more easily. When their life force is balanced, they feel happier, healthier, and recover more quickly from disease or injury— and Reiki brings this balance back to their life force.
Reiki has been offered to animals as long as it has been around. Most animals love to receive Reiki. But many that weren’t open to Reiki before, really enjoy this Animal Reiki energy. It’s different because it not only connects to Usui Reiki (the most widespread lineage of Reiki practiced around the world), but also to Holy Fire Reiki and the blessings of the animal kingdom. My cat Allegro is a great example of how this energy feels different. Before I connected with this Animal Reiki energy, Allegro was indifferent to Reiki—now he asks for it almost every day!
Your Animal’s Reiki Session at a Distance
Animal Reiki at a distance allows your animal to stay in his or her environment without introducing a new person to the mix. Many animals prefer distance Reiki and it’s just as effective as when sessions take place in-person. This blog on distance Reiki talks about how this is possible!
After scheduling the session, please email or text me the name and a photo of the animal you would like me to focus on. If your animals are a tightly knit pack, or herd, or if you want to support their relationships, I can include multiple animals in the session.
At the time of the Animal Reiki session, I’ll give you a call and we’ll talk about your animal, or animals, and what your intention is. Once I’ve answered all of your questions, we’ll end the call and I’ll connect to your animals across the distance.
Before sending your animals Reiki, I’ll first ask for their consent. Sometimes, your animal will want their caregiver, you, to also receive Reiki! In this situation, if you gave me your consent during our phone call, I’ll include you in the session. If you said you weren’t interested, I’ll respect your wishes.
During the session, allow your animal, or animals, the freedom to move around. There is no right way for an animal to receive Reiki. If it’s normal for them to play at the time, that’s okay! Sometimes they need to get some energy out before settling down. During a session, your animal may sigh, stretch, roll over, get up to eat or drink, or fall asleep. Once the session is complete, I’ll give you a call to check in.
Because Reiki can cause subtle shifts over time, I’ll follow-up the next day to see how you and your animal are doing.
Although I always hope that meaningful and lasting change is accomplished in a single session, sometimes, like during acute circumstances or for chronic conditions, multiple Reiki sessions are helpful— they build on each other to bring your animal and your animal’s wellbeing back to balance.
