Due to the size of the animals and their shelter and transportation needs owners, first responders and animal advocates need to adequately trained in what to do. This class has both lecture and hands on workshop aspects including topics such as transporting and restraining sick and/or injured horses, how to prepare an emergency plan for your farm, performing triage, physical assessments including obtaining vital signs, how to handle common medical emergencies affecting horses and first aid skills such as wound management, emergencies that happen on the trail and horse shows and more.
*This class combines lecture and hands on instruction with live horses*
*Upon completion of this class, participants will be certified in Equine Emergency First Aid*
