Pawsitive Steps Dog Training - Bothell, WA
Family-friendly group classes and private in-home training and behavior modification sessions. Serving Seattle since 1997, we primarily serve the north end of Seattle up to Everett and Mukilteo as well as the east side, including Kirkland and Bellevue. We believe that the most effective method of dog training revolves around teaching your dog what you want them to do, how to behave, how to act in their environment, and what appropriate behaviors are, under given circumstances and situations.
Dog training is simply this: Teach your dog to have self-control and to make good decisions.
I'm a CPDT-KSA trainer, which stands for Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge and Skills Assessed. But what does that mean? It means I have accrued thousands of hours (25 years in fact) working with dogs, teaching classes and volunteering, been recommended by veterinarians, other trainers and clients in writing to the Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT, which is an independent testing board, where you can't "buy" these credentials) and passed both an intensive written exam (K-knowledge) as well as a strictly controlled and judged series of video tests (S-skills). It also means that I do continuing education (CEU's) for both knowledge and hands-on every year to maintain these credentials. When you see "CPDT-KA" it means that person has met the minimum hours and taken a written exam. Many trainers will put initials or things after their name, like "Certificated" that sounds great at first, but most of these simply mean they bought an online course, answered the quizzes and got a certificate of completion. Anyone can buy a business license and pronounce themselves a "trainer" or even stretch it to "behaviorist" but does that mean they have the experience to help YOU?
Training a dog should be fun, for both ends of the leash, but it also needs to be effective.
We look forward to working with you. After all, we've been "Helping Best Friends Build Unique Relationships!" since 1997.
#EnjoyYourDogs!
Sincerely,
Gayle
