I worked with Rebecca for my dog’s full-body portrait as a gift for my partners 40th birthday. Rebecca worked with me talking through several photos I sent, she skillfully navigated the coloring conversations and asked for feedback on the likeness regularly. I loved seeing the progress as she was working on the piece. I highly recommend her work!! Even referred her to my mother-in-law who is having Rebecca do their 2 dogs! She is also thrilled with her work and the beautiful finished products!

I was looking for an artist to paint a portrait of our recently deceased St Bernard Tessie. Tessie was my wife’s companion, friend and protector. She was there with my wife for 14 years while I was working and traveling and our sons were off to college. They had a very special relationship. I wanted the portrait as a surprise for my wife’s birthday. Several years ago we lost another St Bernard named Brandy. My mother-in-law had a portrait done for us in her memory. It is beautiful. As I searched for someone to complete Tessie’s portrait I knew the bar was going to be high with Brandy’s portrait as the standard. I reached out to several pet artists in my search. Many said yes immediately. Rebecca on the other hand probed to understand what I was hoping to accomplish. Who was Tessie? What was she like? Could I send several pictures so she could get to know Tessie. Once I settled on Rebecca we began corresponding about which picture to use for the portrait. I was pretty adamant about the picture I wanted to use. Respectfully, Rebecca told me she wouldn’t do the portrait if I were to insist on the picture I had chosen. She could however refer me to someone else. Her explanation was the eyes. The eyes she said, make the pet, be it a dog or a cat. Rebecca specializes in the eyes. Without a clear picture of the eyes ,which define the pet, the portrait would end up looking like a generic St Bernard. I was now convinced that I wanted Rebecca to do Tessie’s portrait. I hunted and hunted for clear eye pictures of Tessie (no easy task with all the long hair) and kept sending them to Rebecca. Well, we finally found the perfect Tessie picture and Rebecca went to work. When she sent me the final portrait (oh, and she sent me progress photos during the process) I was speechless, it WAS Tessie staring back at me.

When I gave it to my wife on her birthday she was overcome with emotion. She said, and I quote, “it’s like Tessie is there, looking at me from behind a window. The eyes, that is Tessie”! As you can imagine, I was a hero for the day. But the real hero is Rebecca. She exceeded my expectation and has brought a great joy into our home. Tessie will be with us forever.I have since had Rebecca do a portrait of our friends dog that had recently passed away. Same end result. Our friends became very emotional and could not get over the resemblance to their beloved Lago. Again, the eyes were the key!

Do I recommend Rebecca for your pet portrait. Yes without any reservations. You will be amazed at her talent!

Mark absolutely loved the portrait!!! We haven’t been able to get it framed yet, but will this week. He actually got teary eyed when we gave it to him. I’ll send you another pic when it’s framed. Thanks again, Rebecca! We will cherish it forever!!
