Playful Pet Portraits began its journey from an artists' heartfelt desire to paint beautiful works of art that bring joy to pet owner enthusiasts. Rae Marie uses soft pastels on suede board. This special combination allows her to achieve that subtle realism that entices the viewer to reach out and pet the happy furry faces.
Each painting is unique with the client's preference to either bold and bright colors or poetically subdued tones. Each portrait represents someone's furry family member with "that look" that makes them smile. They have been presented as Christmas and Birthday surprises that will be cherished for a lifetime. Inevitably, some are for memorials for their "paw-some" companion that gave unconditional love.
Rae Marie will use your photos as a reference, work out a nice composition and send it to you for your approval when you order your portrait.

Creating these treasures for my clients allows me to use my talents to bring so many smiles, tears of joy. I was lucky to have 2 loving companions for many years, Nokose and Butternut. I still share their stories and antics to fellow pet owners and it opens up a dialog with everyone's favorite story of their their furry family member.
