about petmasters

For your furry, fluffy, feathery, scale-y, soft & spiky kids - we’re there. For your purring, chirping, barking, neighing, squeaking, oinking kids - we’re also there. To give them a brighter smile, a better diet, a favorite sitter/walker, a soothing massage, a day in the spotlight, a new haircut, a place to heal -

whatev-fur they may need.

And for our loving, family-oriented pet parents - we’re also there because we know your life is beyond busy. To help you design the perfect coop for your chickens, to train your fun-loving (but sometimes disobedient) pup, to help clean up after your pet’s mess, to honor their life well when it has to end or to deal with the grief that accompanies this difficult loss.

Petmasters was founded by online entrepreneur Michael Caldwell, whose lifetime love of animals led him to build this unique and comprehensive marketplace for pets and the people who serve them. A pet parent himself, he understands that our animals are family and deserve the same love, attention and service that we do.

So let’s give a big round of ap-paws for our community of pet parents and pros who serve our special kids and, of course, for the pets that make us smile, laugh and love a little bit more.

What can I find on Petmasters?

A better question might be, what can’t you find on Petmasters? Our professionals fill every niche of the pet industry - we’ve got pet photographers, acupuncturists, dentists, portrait artists, massage therapists, nutritionists, behaviorists - the list is endless! Whatev-fur you or your pet may need, our pros can help.

What is the best way to contact a pet pro on Petmasters?

Once you explore our list of pros, we’re sure you’ll find something your pet needs - or maybe something you didn’t even know they needed! When you do, the best way to contact a pro is by sending them a message. On every listing underneath a pro’s profile icon on the right-hand side, there is the option to ‘Send Message.’ Your message goes directly to their Petmasters inbox as well as their business email to ensure they don’t miss it!

Can I pay online?

Toad-ally! Many of our pros offer bookable offers, which means they provide an upfront cost for their service so you can book easily and safely through our site. How purr-fect is that? In the event of cat-astrophe, we have a record of your communication and can step in (though we’re sure you can rely on our trustworthy pros!)

Is it free to be a member of the Petmasters community?

Absolutely! We want our site to be an easy, convenient resource for you - not a stressful investment. The goal is to connect you with qualified, trustworthy professionals who know what’s best for your animal.  In fact, many of our pros offer exclusive discounts to pet parents who are members of our community!

What kind of pets do your pros serve?

When people think of pets, they often call to mind the more common ones - cats, dogs, fish, rabbits. Here at Petmasters, our list goes way beyond that! Our pros serve all kinds of family members - whether they’re furry, fluffy, feathery, scale-y, soft, spiky or slimy!

How do I find pet pros in my area?

Good question! All you have to do is decide what kind of pro you’re looking for, click on that category on our homepage, and explore the list of pros near you! So, if you’re looking for an animal chiropractor for example, you would click on the ‘animal chiropractic’ category and our site will find a list of dedicated, passionate pros in your area. Easy, right?

What does it mean if a pro is certified?

A pro that has a check-mark next to ‘Certified’ on their listing verifies that they (or their business) have received professional certifications to work with your pet in their field. It confirms that they have undergone the necessary preparation and training to work with your animal safely and responsibly. This is a great sign! You will also see that many pros specify what kind of licensing they have by indicating if they have a Business Licensing or are a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Creative Arts Therapist or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).

Can I leave a review afterwards?

Please do! It would be-hoof you and other pet parents to leave reviews! We are proud of the work our pros do and want to show our appreciation when they make a difference in the lives of our pets. If for some reason they were not up to your standards, your review helps them improve their business and guides other pet parents who are looking for the purr-fect pro!

For Pet Professionals

What are the paw-sitives of listing with Petmasters?

Good question! By joining our pet lovin’ community, you get to promote your business and expand your client reach, gain more exposure for your service on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Google +, establish a web presence that demonstrates credibility to pet parents, learn more about the pet industry by reading and contributing to our blog, and build relationships with pet pros and parents alike who share your love of animals!

So how do I create a listing?

First, you’ll need to create an account by going here: https://www.petmasters.com/signup. Then, all you need to do is follow our simple, guiding instructions to create your listing and start connecting with pets and their families!

How much does it cost to create a listing?

The good news is that you'll kick things off with a 3 month free trial so there's absolutely no cost to get started, and there's no credit card required for activation. After the 3 months are up, it's just 8 bucks per month if you choose to continue. There's no contracts of any kind so you can always cancel anytime.

What are the different listing types & what do they mean?

When you create a listing, you can choose from three listing types that represent different booking options for pet parents:  'Request Free Consultation', 'Request Quote', or 'Book Now'. If you decide to offer a free consultation or quote, the transaction occurs outside of our booking platform and the communication is up to you and the pet parent. Both of these listing types do not allow pet parents to leave verified customer reviews or ratings because bookings happen outside of Petmasters. For this reason, we recommend that our pros create listings with bookable offers (e.g. a fixed price per hour, per day, per animal, etc). This way pet parents immediately know the cost, pay easily and safely through our site and have the op-paw-tunity to leave a review about your wonderful service. In the event of cat-astrophe, we can see your correspondence and transaction history (though we highly doubt we’ll need to intervene).

Does Petmasters take a percentage of my bookings?

No - we don’t! We know how hard you work to keeps pets and their parents happy so our mission is simple: to get you connected with more animals and their families to continue doing what you do best!

What if you don’t have my category?

If your unique service is missing from our site, please shoot us an email at support@petmasters.com and let us know what you’re all about! In the meantime, you can always create a listing under the ‘Other Pet Specialities’ category. This category holds some of our most unique pet services that may not be as well known or frequently used - but that doesn’t make them any less special!

How can pet parents rate/review me?

Currently, pet parents can only provide verified customer reviews/ratings if you have a ‘Bookable Offer’ listing. After they have booked your service, they have the option to write a review/rate the quality of their experience which other pet parents will then be able see. Fur-tunately, our pros only ever get great reviews!

How do pet parents find Petmasters?

Our pet parents find us primarily through Google and Facebook - though we are ramping up our marketing on Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn as well. With Google, they may do a keyword search and one of our pages comes up or they may notice a paid ad on the right-hand side. Some pet parents view us on other websites that participate in Google’s display ad network. On Facebook, people may come across our site as a result of a piece of content that their Facebook friend shared or commented on, or they may see one of our paid ads in their newsfeed.

What geographic areas does Petmasters cover?

Petmasters is a nationwide service, with pet professionals listed in every state of the U.S. When pet parents want to find a pro, they simply choose a category and explore the list of purr-fessionals near them!

Can I create a listing if I’m not in the U.S.?

We are currently focused on building up our nationwide community of pet pros and parents. For this reason, we’re only looking for pet lovers in the states to join us (for now!)

How can I contribute to the Petmasters blog?

We pride ourselves on building a blog that is driven by pet industry pros like yourself! After all, you are the pet masters - and we can all learn a lot from you! If you have a piece of content to contribute, send it to support@petmasters.com and we’ll happily take a look. If your piece is selected for publication,  you will get full authorship credit as well as promotion on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and more!
