Hi! I am Jamie Deppen, Reiki Master at Instinctive Energy. I use energy healing to provide stress and pain relief for pets to promote healing and improve behavioral problems.
A cat shelter owner asked me to work on a particularly shy cat that had been at the shelter for about a year and tended to be bullied by the others. I offered Reiki to her by standing near her cat tree perch and opening my hands. I could feel her drawing energy through my hands as they got very warm and pulsed. The cat was not particularly curious about what was going on, but settled in and fell asleep. A half hour after I had finished the session and left, the cat was scratching at the door and meowing, wanting to come into the office space. The shelter owner let the cat come in and she explored the entire office and mingled with the other cats there. The owner emailed me right away and said this cat had never wanted to explore that part of the shelter, nor was she ever so insistent. The owner was also surprised at how unafraid she was of the other cats. This is one example of the effect Reiki can have on animals in need.
With the COVID-19 pandemic I currently am offering distance Reiki sessions, so I am able to serve a pet anywhere in the world.
What is a distance session like? Well, at our agreed upon time I will start the session by meditating at my home. You will make sure your pet is comfy and in a quiet place. Most likely your pet will fall asleep, but every animal accepts Reiki in their own way. They may pass gas, twitch, stare trance-like, stretch. It is all up to them. After I am finished with the session I will call or send you an email report of anything I noticed during the session such as locations of your pet's body that drew more energy or anything that intuitively came to me during the session. How did you hone your craft?
I am conservation scientist and Reiki Master who stumbled into the world of energetic healing while on my journey to cope with tick-borne illness. My scientific background made me initially very skeptical of energetic healing, but I was convinced to look into it by a friend. When I experienced symptom relief while treating myself with Reiki and Jin Shin Jyutsu, it was all the evidence I needed to know that energy healing could be an effective support to my medical treatment. I grew up on a small homestead surrounded by wildlife, a menagerie of farm animals, and pets. My passion for all kinds of creatures and the outdoors led to my environmental career and later a natural curiosity in applying energetic healing to animals. When I saw how receptive my own pets were to energy healing, I wanted to help other pet owners provide pain and stress relief for their animals. At animal shelters, homes, and stables I have performed Animal Reiki sessions on cats, dogs, and horses. I look forward to working with other animals as well!
What tip would you give pet parents for working with animals that you've learned as a pro?
Our pets are very sensitive to our energetic state. Our physical, emotional, and mental states all contribute to our energetic field. When you notice a new concern with your pet always ask yourself how your mental, emotional, and physical state may be influencing them. Meditation with your pet is an excellent way for you both to be closer and to become more peaceful within yourself.
