Custom Watercolor Animal Portraits - Nationwide

Hi, I'm Lisa Baechte, a custom watercolor head portrait of your beloved animal, whether domestic or wild, will be immortalized on 300 pound cotton rag paper. I use professional quality paints as well, so the image will last more than your lifetime. I recommend you choose your mat and frame, to reflect your personal decorating style, from your favorite local frame shop.

The size of the painting will vary starting from 7" x 9" and as large as 11" x 14", depending on the animal and the best composition. For example, a mouse or gerbil may be best suited to a small painting, whereas a draft horse may need sizeable space. Also, if the full animal or only the head will be painted. I will paint as many animals in a portrait as you wish, with an expressive color background complimentary to the animal(s). Each additional animal is up to $100 extra, as well as landscape, tack, buildings, etc., details that can be discussed during initial consultation. Each animal can be from a separate photo which I will compose together in the painting.

To begin your commission process, send me at least 4 good photos email, your stories of your chosen animal, contact information and a non-refundable deposit of $75. Deposit and fees can be paid cash, check or Paypal.

I have been painting with watercolor, especially animals, for almost 40 years. Pet portraits are only a part of the work I do. My attraction to animals is a reflection of my relationship to the natural world. I find comfort in the guidance and nurturing the flora and fauna provide, devoid of judgement, drama or attachment. I feel it is my duty to share my insights as images of animal beauty. Each animal or pet has taught us something along the way, however simple or complex, that we hold in our hearts and beings forever.
